What does it mean to be a maker?
A maker is someone who values creativity and practical, hands on, experience. They rather be in a machine shop then attending classes. Home Depot is there favorite store and they have Tool Chests in their bedrooms. They are the person others go to to have things made.
What are you doing in the Maker community?
Having an extensive background in making things, I have a large appreciation for fabrication machines. From my time at MIT, to serving in the Army overseas, to working at Formlabs now, I have had the great opportunity to use a wide assortment of tools and fabrication devices. As an Engineer at Formlabs, we are working on making it easier than ever to make any idea that pops in your head. Making things have become as simple as designing and then clicking print. We hope to enable users all over to make ideas become parts and reality.
Who are some other Makers you admire and why?
Ilan Moyer's projects and machines have always been inspiring to me. Ilan currently is working with Shaper tools to make an entirely new class of machine tools that will change the way we make things.
