What does it mean to be a maker?

Making is a new term for an old thing. Making is about creating art, whatever your art might be--electronics, leatherwork, woodwork, painting, 3D printing, sewing etc. Makers not only create, but they share their projects, their art, with the world. you cannot make and not share. Being a maker means you are brave enough to create art and willing to share it with the world, to open yourself up to being vulnerable.

What are you doing in the Maker community?

I am working on creating printed circuit boards (PCB) for custom 4-H soldering kits for young makers who need an easy kit for learning how to solder. I am also creating a 4x4x4 LED light cube kit for advanced makers in my 4-H clubs that want to take their soldering, electronics and coding skills to the next level.

Who are some other Makers you admire and why?

I'm fascinated with the maker projects of Shaun McBride, a daily Vlogger, and Adam Savage, the Mythbuster.
